Tonight, my wife, Laura and I decided to give Mauldin his first lesson in Harry Potter. If you did not know Laura and I are big fans of the series, both the movies and books. We are on the hinges of.. well lets say me more than Laura, but almost obessive-like sometimes. You probably already assumed as such if we are exposing our unborn child to the likes of the Boy Wizard, the chosen one if you will... or the Boy who lived, okay I disgress, if you aren't picking up on these refrences pick up a book or a movie and you may can follow this a little bit... honestly, if you haven't seen Harry Potter, for religious reasons or something you may want to losen up a little bit. I mean I don't think Mauldin will come out of the womb wanting to study potions for a living. But, you know what if he does we will just say he likes chemistry!The point of my blog is to introduce that Mauldin has began kicking, well not like, "whoa he just knocked my hand off your belly kicking," but Laura swears she is feeling it. Although, everytime I place my hand on the ever-growing bump, the kicking subsides, well lets say it, all together goes away. Is she making this up? Is she just wanting to feel it so bad it is happening, or is Mauldin playing a cruel joke on dad

So, will Mauldin be born speaking with a British accent? Well, if he does wouldn't that be hilarious?

You are too funny with the headphones. Our little gangsta rapper, was listening to rap on the way to work with me when I was preggers, and now I think I should have been letting him hear soothing sounds or books on tape. Hence, my last blog. Congrats on the boy! And don't worry if you can't feel the kicks right now, Mother Goose Laura probably feels something like a butterfly kiss in her tummy, but before you know it little Mauldin will become Kung Fu Panda and you will be able to totally feel it.
I read Dr. Seuss' ABCs to my kid every night when he was in the belly. He came out rhyming non-sensically. Or maybe that was crying. Oh well...
OK, so as a father of 2, my only advice at this point is to never verbalize that, "Is she making this up" sentiment unless you want to unleash a world of hurt upon yourself.
And, no worries on the early exposure to fantasy. I've been reading fantasy since I was old enough to decide between porn and fantasy books (OK, so I read both...) and despite my mother's fears that "those devil books" were going to be my undoing, I'm still pretty normal, and I go to church and all. So, read away!
BTW: You and I are pretty close (geographically). I'm up in Roswell, GA. Also, I'm in Communications as well.

Have fun with the Harry Potter! She is feeling the kicks and, yep, you will feel them soon enough. Raleigh always stopped kicking as soon as Beau put his hand on my belly. We just said that his touch calmed her. Hope you get to feel him soon though!
Wouldn't that be cool if he spoke in a British accent- liek Stewie Griffith- haha!
